WHAT THE WHAT? WHAT? THIS IS AWESOME!

Tame Impala has obviously done it again.... Made a really amazing music video for a great song. Forget about HFGW, forget about Lucidity, forget about Solitude is Bliss.... THIS is the coolest music video I've seen in I don't know how long. Kaleidoscope 360° videoshoots. And the best part is that they made this film while having a day off in Paris, France on their European tour. One day, one idea, one band, some flares.. And that weather? Those trees? WOW!
       Enjoy:

Life in Eternity

bleeding eyes of black patterns
hold your hands upon yourself
feel your way through space
come on over to the dark side
where theres no difference between opened or closed
I have the black acid mind
pouring all over you

water splashing to your face as you wash up in the bathroom, trying to get sane
the man in the mirror laughs at you and smiles
after starring into your eyes for a while he move his lips when yours are still and say
"be prepared, one day I will be you"

he stands up straight, takes one last look and then turn around
not knowing what you just saw when that man, who looked just like you, but didnt do anything like you walked out of the room
you suddenly remember that nothing is sane and everything is insane

close your eyes
concentrate on darkness
put your hands over your eyes
open them inside and ride through the night

Redeemer

LA psychedelic/folk/destert/rock artist Imaad Wasif is a man of pure psych-rock feeling. He does his thing and let nothing come in his way. With the sound of witchcraft and black magic in flavor he creates a brilliant sound that lands somewhere between The Entrance Band and Goldden Animals. In 2008 he released his first album together with a band called Two Part Beast called "Strange Hexes", In 2009 he released the second album "The Voidist", this time only with the name Imaad Wasif. Here's a little earcandy for you:

guided tours by the voice of the man in the mirror
he is neither me nor you
loosing touch with your breath, you cant feel your body
eating yourself over and over
colors in the darkness, pieces of awareness
falling in place one by one
the only thing left is the music within me
as the voice falls down in the deep black sea
now i can feel it, now i can see it
the power of love
the power of mind

Hmm. what is this? A video for the Jimi Hendrix song Valleys of Neptu.... HOLY FUCK!

In March, 9 this year a new Jimi Hendrix album was released. With 12 remastered previously unreleased songs. The name of the album is "Valleys of Neptune", same name as the hit song of the album. I've heard the song and the whole album and yeah, sure, It's alright. But I haven't seen the video to the song before.. I just have to say hold on guys, this is one hell of a trip....

“All that stuff about heavy metal and hard rock, I don't subscribe to any of that. It's all just music. I mean, the heavy metal from the Seventies sounds nothing like the stuff from the Eighties, and that sounds nothing like the stuff from the Nineties. Who's to say what is and isn't a certain type of music?”

Yellow Submarine in 3D!

In 1968 The Beatles made a cartoon movie called "Yellow Submarine", It shows us their journey to Pepperland. Through places like "the foothills of the headland" and "the sea of time" you follow them on their way of saving Pepperland from the blue meanies with singing like Sgt. Peppers Lonely Heartsclub Band in the good old days of, Yes,  Pepperland.
Now however the movie is being recreated in 3D and is going to be released in 2013. Read more here.

Wouldn't it be boring if the northern lights were black and white?

Perpetual moonshine
And glowing treetops
Northern lights dancing in the stars
Diffuse smoke hangin' from beneith
Pouring up through the cold air
Like a waterfall from the other side of the world

Footsteps in the newly fallen snow
Show's where I am, points where I should be
The glow from my cigarette sparkles in my eye
Streams of light
Hits the winternight
Cold cheeks blooming of red
Dry lips calling for you across the sky
Fading into the turquoise nightsky
Alongside the smoke from my lounges

Where are you?
When will you get here?
When will you come?
Wouldn't it be boring if the northern lights were black and white?

Golden Animals

Golden Animals is a band with the western desert, folk, psychedelic, blues drepression sound. They first released a selftitled four track-Singel/EP in 2007, in 2008 they released their debut album called "Free Your Mind and Win a Pony" with the hit "The Steady Roller". I would really love to see these guys..
The band is made of Tommy (Vocals and guitar) and Linda (Drums and backup vocals), who one night met in a street in Brooklyn. For three years they went around the west US in a van and crashed and played in abandoned houses. Although somehow they managed to do a UK and US tour...
Let's just hope that soon they will get a world tour and get's the fame they deserve..

Turn off your mind, Relax and Float downstream

The Beatles producer George Martin and his son remastered some Beatles songs and mixed them together in different ways. It became the album called "Love" and was released in 2006. All the songs in the album is put together so that it works as one long track, more or less. Giving you an amazing trip through The Bealtes gold-sound from Abbey Road.
Here's a trippy and awesome video for one of the tracks which is "Within you without you" mixed together with "Tomorrow never knows".

The Beatles - Within You Without You

Quest For Fire

Quest For Fire is a band who started off with a selftitled album in 2009 which was great. They've got the dark and more underground sound of the psychedelic rock. In August 2010 they released a second album called "Lights From Paradise" with more attitude and more darkness than the first album. Starting with somewhat of a hit called "The Greatest Hits By God", and it really is, the whole album is the greatest hits by god. That is, if Jimi Hendrix were god. The last song on the album is a long one, a journey through time. It's called "Sessions of Light" and it is 9:23 long. Which I think is great, I love long psychedelic songs.
If you dig BRMC, The Entrance Band, Imaad Wasif or just a bit heavier psychedelic rock that puts you into trance, Check it out on Spotify.

Roky & his Black Angels

As all of you know Roky Erickson is a huge legend in the psychedelic music history. Once upon a time he was the lead singer of The 13th Floor Elevators and took acid every day for a entire year. Then also, in 1968 he was declared with schizophrenia and 1969 he got busted for having one (1 !!!!!!) joint of Marijuana on him. He got 10 years of prison but Roky then said he was insane and it wasn't his fault. So instead he ended up in the hospital for people who are mentally sick.
Anyhow now this god of drugs, thoughts and psychedelics is back playing with The Black Angels and together they are now releasing a DVD from a 2008 performance together called "Night of the Vampire". I'm sure it will be amazing. Really psyched to get to see it!!
Turn on, Tune in, Drop out you fucking pushers.

Hunter S Thompson once said:

"There are times, however, and this is one of them, when even being right feels wrong. What do you say, for instance, about a generation that has been taught that rain is poison and sex is death? If making love might be fatal and if a cool spring breeze on any summer afternoon can turn a crystal blue lake into a puddle of black poison right in front of your eyes, there is not much left except TV and relentless masturbation. It's a strange world. Some people get rich and others eat shit and die."

He's got the blues

Until this day I've always thought that the song Zigenarliv Dreamin Pt. 1 on Håkan Hellström's single "För en lång lång tid" was the same as the Zigenarliv Dreamin on the "För sent för Edelweiss"-album. Obviously, it's not the same song, this version is more dirty. And it's got more of a blues feeling, even though both versions are blues tracks.
Håkan Hellström is a big Swedish pop/rock artist who's hot his roots in the blues rock. I've always digged him, and he is one of the best live artists I've ever seen.
However, here's the song, and it's great:

Crazy Psychedelic Music From Sweden

Samling (Gather) is a new underground psychedelic/folk/progg band from Stockholm, they've played three gigs this year. Although these gigs haven't been the normal small gigs in random places of Sweden. The first gig was at legendary "Festen På Gärdet" in Gärdet, where Träd Gräs & Stenar recorded their live album "Gärdet". Second gig was at Debaser, Slussen in Stockholm which is a pretty big stage. And the third gig was at one of Swedens biggest festivals: Way Out West in Göteborg!. These guys have only got three songs on their Myspace with a total of 12 000 plays. Right now they are working on a debut album which I think will be amazing!
Litsen to the song "Anna", a great song about a youth named Christian and his neighbour Anna who's really old and always crashes his parties and gives him wine and a smoke. Great 7:53 minute long ride of the Swedish folk-music.

Skit i Allt

I have totally forgot about this! The great psychedelic/folk/jazz band Dungen released their sixth album a few weeks ago, can't wait to get a hold of a copy because it sounds great. A bit more relaxed than older Dungen, altough they've made quite a few chilled out songs before. The new album is called Skit i Allt (Fuck it all, literally translated), it countains 10 songs. I think the sound of this album is great, really keeps up with all the good produced earlier stuff. Here's the video for the song "Skit i Allt":

Dungen - Skit i Allt

And I have to give you this one too, because it's so great:

Trippy Sundown Syndrome Baby!

Tame Impala, the band from down under who are on their way of taking over the whole psychedelic scene. I know they're not new or so but I just had to take it up, since they are so fucking amazing.. They've got the sound of everything you like in psychedelic music. Not in the mood for some long bullshit talk about how good they are so here's a video of them making the best use for a kazoo that anyone has ever done:

Rad Psych

Let's talk about some unknown Swedish psychedelic bands.

Legalize Lola is a cool upcomming (atleast I hope so) band from Östersund, they take most of their inspiration from The Black Angels and are going for that darker psychedelic sound. They've only got three songs on their Myspace but they are not some boring three minute long songs that ends before they even start, oh no. 6:02, 8:55 and 5:00. Litsen to the song "Dead Climbers (LIVE@TINGAN), I sense that they will become a great live band.
Oh, did i forget to tell you? THEY ARE ALL GIRLS!

Barrett Elmore is a psychedelic band from Stockholm which sounds like a complitation of Pink Floyd, Gorillaz, Jefferson Airplane and Kebnekajse. With a male (also bass) and a female (also flute) as lead singers, a guitarist with the best sound I've heard in a long time and a drummer giving it all they create a sound that really blows your mind.. Litsen to the songs "The Prophet (Ride Through the Night)" and "Stop Breakin' Down", which is a great cover of Robert Johnson, probably the most creative cover I've ever heard, This is music my friends. And by the way, they are available on Spotify.

Great covers on HAWKWIND

If you've never heard of Hawkwind, you've missed out. It's one of the greater Psychedelic/Space/Rock bands with a darker and harder attitude. Lemmy Kilmister used to play with them. Anyway these are three great cover 7" from some rad bands. Great remake of the old album art from the Hawkwind album "Space Ritual" on these singles.

The Entrance Band tour dates! Including Dungen!

Just got the news that the amazing holy divine insane Psychedelic/Rock band The Entrance Band are touring the states from September 17th to October 29th.
The band is built on three pillars; Paz Lenchantin on bass who will become one of the most legendary bassists in the world, already being the best female who's ever held on to an instrument, Guy Blakeslee on guitar (not only holding the guitar wrong but also playes with the strings upside down! that makes it eBGDAE!!) and incredible song and last but not least Derek James, fantastic drummer who's more into the music than the audiance watching them on acid.
Last year they released their first album, selftitled. Including outrageous songs like "Grim Reaper Blues Pt. 2", as a follow-up on the old "Grim Reaper Blues" Guy released on his solo album "Prayer of Death".
And if thats not good enough for you who live there the swedish Psychedelic/Folk/Prog/Rock band Dungen are touring with them from September 25th to October 15th.
Dungen is a great band with influences from hip hop and old swedish prog/rock who's created their own sound, really outstanding from a lot of other psychedelic bands. And in latest interview leader of the band and singer Gustav Estjes said that they're not really a psychedelic band, neither a rock band, nor folk. They don't have a genre for their music since it's just made up from different feelings.
This will probably be one of the best tours this year! I'm so mad that I will miss it all..

Question of love, State of mind?

come quick
faster!
she yelled
as her children came running towards her
gather up
come closer
crawl under my feet and i will show you all about it
look over there!
flowers
beautiful colors
merging together from the shadows of the trees standing in line as three year old soldiers
litsen
hear them out
she said
as the flowers merged into their eyes, leaving nothing but a beautiful mind inside

moments later
minutes..
hours..
days?
when her children fly away inside a thousand butterflies the eruption of a volcano across the ocean makes the world look a lot worse than it is
love was the subject
passion for life was the question
this is what she answered

Neo-Psychedelic

Earlier this year The Brian Jonestown Massacre released their twelfth studio album, "Who Killed Sgt. Pepper?", unfortunatelly it didn't make much of a fuzz and still has'nt. I really like this album. I think Anton has done it again. The album contain brilliant songs like Tempo 116.7 (Reaching for Dangerous Levels of Sobriety), This Is the First of Your Last Warning (Icelandic version) and This Is the One Thing We Did Not Want to Have Happen. The album is a lot about big beats and more twisted guitars than you're used to. On the BJM website you find music videos for all the songs of the album, really good videos too. In the video for the song "Lets Go Fucking Mental" there's a small town built in lego with lego-people walking around. An experiment goes wrong and a disease gets out from a laboratory to the streets and everybody dies.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Tempo 116.7 (Reaching for Dangerous Levels of Sobriety)

And while we're on the subject of the BJM neo-psychedelia let's talk about bands that sound "a bit" like them.

Rancho Relaxo is a norwegian Neo-Psychedelic/Shoegaze band with a great sound and this year they released their forth album called "New Kind of Orchide". This is an awesome album, it's so damn great that I can't even believe that they are as unknown as they are. This is such good music that it doesn't matter that they've been litsening to The Brian Jonestown a lot. My personal favorite track from the album is "Freuds God, Spaceman". Anyway here's a great video from a great band:

Rancho Relaxo - Plan Your Revolution

One more band I'd like to take up is a band called The Orange Revival, it's a Swedish Neo-Psychedelic/Folk-Rock band who's been merging together for the last year creating soem sweet tunes. They recently went out on a European tour without having a single gig booked when they hit the road, they played acoustic in the streets of big capital cities and more through Europe and earned some gigs inside clubs and such. Here is their latest song, which really doesnt sound anything like BJM but more like The Doors or maby The Velvet Underground.

The Black Angels - Phosphene Dream

When I first read about The Black Angels releasing a new album in September 2010 I thought "WOW! FINALLY! YES!" but after have litsened to the album "Phosphene Dream" I must say that I am a bit dissapointed.
Sure they still sound like The Black Angels and have that sound of guitars vibrating in your brain for a day or two but they've gone from a band who you can tell are inspired by the 60's music to a band who tries to be a band from the 60's. They have dropped the heavy, dark and mysterious sound and gone for a more happy, flower power and bright sound. And I don't like it.
I mean, sure the songs are still good but they are not anywhere near the songs from their last album "Directions To See A Ghost".
The album starts with the song "Bad Vibrations" and when you hear it you feel euforic and satisfied because you think that they've kept their sound from previous albums, although it's a bit different, in a good way though. After this song the whole album just leaps out into new directions not knowing exactly if it's going to copy the sound of The 13'th Floor Elevators, The Doors, The Rolling Stones or maby even something new like The Mooney Suzuki. It's just wrong... Sure I will litsen to the album, but I probably won't be litsening to the whole album.
And on top of all this they(or probably their record company) have made a shitty deal with Spotify so if you don't have Spotify Premium, you can only litsen to five songs from the album. Anyway here's a link to the free Phosphene Dream on Spotify.
