Blow my mind to awareness right now!!

Spectrum & Sonic Boom, do I even have to say anything more?.. It's so good it makes me sick of greatness..

Spectrum - How You Satisfy Me

Darian Parker

20 year old Darian Parker from Atlanta have got some serious drawing skills. Trip into these ones if you like!

Sure hope this guy gets the attention he should..

Losing Touch With My Mind

We all know that Spacemen 3 did some seriously great things in music, but these fellas really know how to make a tribute to them by doing one of the best covers there is. It also is the best song that The Asteroid No. 4 has done. They're on spotify as well.

No drugs needed.

Run through the woods, go go robin hood!

Rói Höttur is a Psychedelic/blues/drone/rock band from Undersåker, a small village in the northern Sweden.
I just show you this video because it's genious:

He's got the blues

Until this day I've always thought that the song Zigenarliv Dreamin Pt. 1 on Håkan Hellström's single "För en lång lång tid" was the same as the Zigenarliv Dreamin on the "För sent för Edelweiss"-album. Obviously, it's not the same song, this version is more dirty. And it's got more of a blues feeling, even though both versions are blues tracks.
Håkan Hellström is a big Swedish pop/rock artist who's hot his roots in the blues rock. I've always digged him, and he is one of the best live artists I've ever seen.
However, here's the song, and it's great:

Oh btw. Tame Impala will launch YOU into space..

Here's a heads up for the new Tame Impala single "Lucidity". Tonight they posted this "behind the scenes" clip for their new musis video, It will be crazy.. A mindblowing ride to the atmosphere, a freefall to the ground and won't you just look at that eagle....

Tame Impala - Lucidity (Behind the Scenes)

Choose to choose, Choose to go

This is what I expected from the new album. This is insanity. This is so beautiful.

Crazy Psychedelic Music From Sweden

Samling (Gather) is a new underground psychedelic/folk/progg band from Stockholm, they've played three gigs this year. Although these gigs haven't been the normal small gigs in random places of Sweden. The first gig was at legendary "Festen På Gärdet" in Gärdet, where Träd Gräs & Stenar recorded their live album "Gärdet". Second gig was at Debaser, Slussen in Stockholm which is a pretty big stage. And the third gig was at one of Swedens biggest festivals: Way Out West in Göteborg!. These guys have only got three songs on their Myspace with a total of 12 000 plays. Right now they are working on a debut album which I think will be amazing!
Litsen to the song "Anna", a great song about a youth named Christian and his neighbour Anna who's really old and always crashes his parties and gives him wine and a smoke. Great 7:53 minute long ride of the Swedish folk-music.

Skit i Allt

I have totally forgot about this! The great psychedelic/folk/jazz band Dungen released their sixth album a few weeks ago, can't wait to get a hold of a copy because it sounds great. A bit more relaxed than older Dungen, altough they've made quite a few chilled out songs before. The new album is called Skit i Allt (Fuck it all, literally translated), it countains 10 songs. I think the sound of this album is great, really keeps up with all the good produced earlier stuff. Here's the video for the song "Skit i Allt":

Dungen - Skit i Allt

And I have to give you this one too, because it's so great:

Dungen - Marken Låg Stilla

Trippy Sundown Syndrome Baby!

Tame Impala, the band from down under who are on their way of taking over the whole psychedelic scene. I know they're not new or so but I just had to take it up, since they are so fucking amazing.. They've got the sound of everything you like in psychedelic music. Not in the mood for some long bullshit talk about how good they are so here's a video of them making the best use for a kazoo that anyone has ever done:

Rad Psych

Let's talk about some unknown Swedish psychedelic bands.

Legalize Lola is a cool upcomming (atleast I hope so) band from Östersund, they take most of their inspiration from The Black Angels and are going for that darker psychedelic sound. They've only got three songs on their Myspace but they are not some boring three minute long songs that ends before they even start, oh no. 6:02, 8:55 and 5:00. Litsen to the song "Dead Climbers (LIVE@TINGAN), I sense that they will become a great live band.
Oh, did i forget to tell you? THEY ARE ALL GIRLS!

Barrett Elmore is a psychedelic band from Stockholm which sounds like a complitation of Pink Floyd, Gorillaz, Jefferson Airplane and Kebnekajse. With a male (also bass) and a female (also flute) as lead singers, a guitarist with the best sound I've heard in a long time and a drummer giving it all they create a sound that really blows your mind.. Litsen to the songs "The Prophet (Ride Through the Night)" and "Stop Breakin' Down", which is a great cover of Robert Johnson, probably the most creative cover I've ever heard, This is music my friends. And by the way, they are available on Spotify.

Great covers on HAWKWIND

If you've never heard of Hawkwind, you've missed out. It's one of the greater Psychedelic/Space/Rock bands with a darker and harder attitude. Lemmy Kilmister used to play with them. Anyway these are three great cover 7" from some rad bands. Great remake of the old album art from the Hawkwind album "Space Ritual" on these singles.

Mudhoney / Mugstar - Sonic Attack (Motorheads)

Kinski / Bardo - Sonic Attack (Lords of Light)

White Hills / Acid Mother Tempel - Sonic Attack (Psychedeic Warlords)

Who said peace and love wouldn't kill anyone?

If psychedelics would rule the world, there'd still be war.. Probably not as much, but just a bit more cute than it is today.

This is the war on drugs.. Literally..

The Entrance Band tour dates! Including Dungen!

Just got the news that the amazing holy divine insane Psychedelic/Rock band The Entrance Band are touring the states from September 17th to October 29th.
The band is built on three pillars; Paz Lenchantin on bass who will become one of the most legendary bassists in the world, already being the best female who's ever held on to an instrument, Guy Blakeslee on guitar (not only holding the guitar wrong but also playes with the strings upside down! that makes it eBGDAE!!) and incredible song and last but not least Derek James, fantastic drummer who's more into the music than the audiance watching them on acid.
Last year they released their first album, selftitled. Including outrageous songs like "Grim Reaper Blues Pt. 2", as a follow-up on the old "Grim Reaper Blues" Guy released on his solo album "Prayer of Death".
And if thats not good enough for you who live there the swedish Psychedelic/Folk/Prog/Rock band Dungen are touring with them from September 25th to October 15th.
Dungen is a great band with influences from hip hop and old swedish prog/rock who's created their own sound, really outstanding from a lot of other psychedelic bands. And in latest interview leader of the band and singer Gustav Estjes said that they're not really a psychedelic band, neither a rock band, nor folk. They don't have a genre for their music since it's just made up from different feelings.
This will probably be one of the best tours this year! I'm so mad that I will miss it all..

Question of love, State of mind?

come quick
faster!
she yelled
as her children came running towards her
gather up
come closer
crawl under my feet and i will show you all about it
look over there!
flowers
beautiful colors
merging together from the shadows of the trees standing in line as three year old soldiers
litsen
hear them out
she said
as the flowers merged into their eyes, leaving nothing but a beautiful mind inside

moments later
minutes..
hours..
days?
when her children fly away inside a thousand butterflies the eruption of a volcano across the ocean makes the world look a lot worse than it is
love was the subject
passion for life was the question
this is what she answered

Neo-Psychedelic

Earlier this year The Brian Jonestown Massacre released their twelfth studio album, "Who Killed Sgt. Pepper?", unfortunatelly it didn't make much of a fuzz and still has'nt. I really like this album. I think Anton has done it again. The album contain brilliant songs like Tempo 116.7 (Reaching for Dangerous Levels of Sobriety), This Is the First of Your Last Warning (Icelandic version) and This Is the One Thing We Did Not Want to Have Happen. The album is a lot about big beats and more twisted guitars than you're used to. On the BJM website you find music videos for all the songs of the album, really good videos too. In the video for the song "Lets Go Fucking Mental" there's a small town built in lego with lego-people walking around. An experiment goes wrong and a disease gets out from a laboratory to the streets and everybody dies.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Tempo 116.7 (Reaching for Dangerous Levels of Sobriety)

And while we're on the subject of the BJM neo-psychedelia let's talk about bands that sound "a bit" like them.

Rancho Relaxo is a norwegian Neo-Psychedelic/Shoegaze band with a great sound and this year they released their forth album called "New Kind of Orchide". This is an awesome album, it's so damn great that I can't even believe that they are as unknown as they are. This is such good music that it doesn't matter that they've been litsening to The Brian Jonestown a lot. My personal favorite track from the album is "Freuds God, Spaceman". Anyway here's a great video from a great band:

Rancho Relaxo - Plan Your Revolution

One more band I'd like to take up is a band called The Orange Revival, it's a Swedish Neo-Psychedelic/Folk-Rock band who's been merging together for the last year creating soem sweet tunes. They recently went out on a European tour without having a single gig booked when they hit the road, they played acoustic in the streets of big capital cities and more through Europe and earned some gigs inside clubs and such. Here is their latest song, which really doesnt sound anything like BJM but more like The Doors or maby The Velvet Underground.

The Black Angels - Phosphene Dream

When I first read about The Black Angels releasing a new album in September 2010 I thought "WOW! FINALLY! YES!" but after have litsened to the album "Phosphene Dream" I must say that I am a bit dissapointed.
Sure they still sound like The Black Angels and have that sound of guitars vibrating in your brain for a day or two but they've gone from a band who you can tell are inspired by the 60's music to a band who tries to be a band from the 60's. They have dropped the heavy, dark and mysterious sound and gone for a more happy, flower power and bright sound. And I don't like it.
I mean, sure the songs are still good but they are not anywhere near the songs from their last album "Directions To See A Ghost".
The album starts with the song "Bad Vibrations" and when you hear it you feel euforic and satisfied because you think that they've kept their sound from previous albums, although it's a bit different, in a good way though. After this song the whole album just leaps out into new directions not knowing exactly if it's going to copy the sound of The 13'th Floor Elevators, The Doors, The Rolling Stones or maby even something new like The Mooney Suzuki. It's just wrong... Sure I will litsen to the album, but I probably won't be litsening to the whole album.
And on top of all this they(or probably their record company) have made a shitty deal with Spotify so if you don't have Spotify Premium, you can only litsen to five songs from the album. Anyway here's a link to the free Phosphene Dream on Spotify.
